Vinyl revival

We recently brought a 1974 Akai turntable in mint condition from the amazing and highly recommended WT Audio in Lower Hutt.  It belonged to a doctor who had gone into a retirement home and he had taken very good care of it.  We are always on the lookout for albums when we are out op shopping and got some great stuff from Marbecks and Real Groovy when we were in Auckland recently but I have to say that the best haul we have gotten lately was the one we got today.

We had a load of garden waste from our efforts yesterday to take to the dump and on the way back we called into the tip shop to have a look.  Just as we got to the records section, one of the workers brought out a load of “new” albums, most of which came home with us.  All were $1.00 each and we got:

  • Born in the USA – Bruce Springsteen, original 1984
  • The Hourglass featuring the Allman Brothers
  • Eric Clapton at his best, original 1972
  • Steve Marriott
  • Elvis – Rock ‘n’ on
  • The very best of Elton John
  • Dianna Ross and the Supremes – 20 golden greats
  • Scritti Politti – Cupid and Psyche 1985
  • The Clash – Sandinista
  • Billy Joel – Live in the USSR
  • Wishbone Ash
  • Wishbone Ash – Wishbone Four
  • Rolling Stones 30 Greatest Hits
  • Larry Carlton – Friends
  • Pink Floyd – Darkside of the moon – original 1973

I can’t wait to listen to them all!
