Temperature Blanket

Over the Christmas break I was checking my Pinterest feed and noticed a thing called a Temperature Blanket.  I was intrigued so clicked on the picture and was immediately hooked.  I quickly messaged my sister to see if she had heard of this wondrous thing.  She hadn’t so we hatched a plan to crochet one each using the same colour palette.  She lives in the Northern Hemisphere so her blanket will look different to mine and we will do a comparison at the end to see how they turned out.

We decided on the size, stitch, and colour and will be starting on the 1st May.  The idea is you crochet one line of the blanket per day using the colour of wool that corresponds to the temperature where you are on that day.

We are going to be using Stylecraft Special Chunky in the following colours using a 6mm hook:

 Silver – 0 – 5 degrees

 Cloud Blue – 6 – 9 degrees

 Meadow – 10 – 14 degrees

 Pale Rose – 15 – 18 degrees

 Saffron – 19 – 21 degrees

 Pomegranate – 22 – 24 degrees

 Plum – 25 – 30 degrees

 Emperor – 30+ degrees

I will check back in with updates as to how the blankets are progressing so watch this space!

omg, this is brilliant! I love this idea. I’ll have to add this to the ‘must do’ list. I can’t wait to see how it comes out

Your dedication to craft is incredible Rach. I’d get four days in and then forget, and then run outta motivation… keep up your hard work!
